The Oscar S. Stauffer Executive in Residence Program creates a dynamic opportunity for corporate executives to interact with Washburn University students and faculty, as well as Topeka business leaders. Honorees have demonstrated exemplary leadership as chairman of the board, chief executive officer or president of a major corporation. The 2008 Executive in Residence is Mayo M. Schmidt, President and Chief Executive Officer, as well as a Director of Viterra Inc., a globally focused agribusiness headquartered in Canada.
A native of Hays, Kansas, he earned his BBA from Washburn University in 1980, where he earned both athletic and academic scholarships.
